City man sentenced
CUMBERLAND — A city man was sentenced recently in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on Race Street in July, according to the Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Ronald Everett Shaffer, 58, was found guilty of reckless endangerment in the stabbing of a woman that apparently occurred during a neighborhood dispute.
Shaffer was sentenced to an 18-month jail term with 16 months and 21 days suspended. He was also placed on supervised probation for two years upon completion of the jail term. In addition, Shaffer was ordered to pay restitution for the victim’s medical bills.
Shaffer was represented by Attorney James Malone of the Public Defender’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Deputy State’s Attorney Linda Thomas.
