CHANEYSVILLE, Pa. — Sixty-eight-year-old Helmut Karl Neubrand was fatally injured late Monday afternoon when his ultralight aircraft crashed along Ragged Mountain Road in Southampton Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Police said the Clearville resident was flying at about 4:15 p.m. when the aircraft struck a tree and crashed to the ground.
Neubrand was pronounced dead at the scene by Bedford County Coroner Sam Gordon, who determined Neubrand died of blunt force trauma to the chest.
