10/26 - Woman charged with DUI with kids in car
CUMBERLAND — A city woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated Friday evening after allegedly trying to operate a vehicle with two small children inside.
Jennifer Marie Olmstead, 30, was charged with driving while intoxicated by drugs, transporting a minor while driving while intoxicated by drugs, reckless driving, negligent driving and failing to obey a lawful order.
Earlier that day, Olmstead had been told by officers not to operate a vehicle after being found sleeping in a parked vehicle and being found at the scene of a disturbance on Decatur Street. Olmstead was arrested after officers found her attempting to operate a vehicle with the youngsters inside. Officers were able to stop Olmstead before she entered the roadway.
Olmstead was taken before a District Court commissioner where she was held on $5,000 bail. The children in the vehicle were released to the Department of Social Services.
