FROSTBURG — A young Midand man operating an all-terrain vehicle was arrested early Friday after he allegedly failed to stop for police, rammed a police cruiser during the pursuit and then was arrested after he struck a parked vehicle on McCulloh Street.
James Edward Robinette Jr. apparently was not injured when his Honda Foreman 450 ATV struck the parked vehicle concluding the chase that began just minutes earlier with the attempted traffic stop at 2:29 a.m., Frostburg Police said.
Robinette declined medical treatment at the scene from Frostburg Area Ambulance personnel.
Robinette was charged with 11 traffic violations, including driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle in addition to possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Robinette remained in custody late Friday morning awaiting a bond hearing by a district court commissioner.
Frostburg Police said they first attempted to stop Robinette in the area of East Main and Centre Streets after he had allegedly traveled from Ellerslie to Frostburg via state Route 36 enroute to a residence in Midland.
