Victim of Carroll Street fire said to be ‘improving’
CUMBERLAND — A Carroll Street woman who suffered severe burns before being rescued from her residence by Cumberland firefighters Friday was listed in “serious but improving” condition Monday evening, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Carol Trottier suffered severe injuries, including respiratory burns, in the 9:20 a.m. fire at 217 Carroll St.
Eugene Trottier, the victim’s husband, escaped the fire without injuries. He was unable to rescue his wife, who was trapped in a first-floor living room where the fire reportedly originated, according to the fire marshal’s office.
