FROSTBURG — A Virginia man was arrested early Saturday after being involved in an altercation on East Mechanic Street.
Shortly after 2 a.m., Frostburg Police Patrolman Jason McCoy responded to a call of a fight in progress. Upon his arrival, McCoy observed Michael D. Tiller, 25, of Dumfries, Va., “straddling or sitting on top of a male victim and repeatedly striking the victim’s head off the roadway pavement,” according to a police report.
McCoy stopped Tiller and arrested him without further incident.
Police said the victim had sustained numerous injuries to his face and head area and also was bleeding from his nose and mouth. The man was initially treated by Frostburg Area Ambulance Service personnel before being transported to the hospital for further treatment.
Tiller was charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, intoxicated and endangering behavior, malicious destruction of property and disorderly conduct. He was taken before a District Court commissioner on Sunday and was detained at the Allegany County Detention Center in lieu of $15,000 bond.
Frostburg Police officers were assisted by Frostburg State University Police and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.
