10/18 - Woman leaves son, holds up store

ROCKWOOD, Pa. — Authorities said a Somerset County woman left her 5-month-old son in her apartment and left to hold up a nearby convenience store for a can of snuff.

Jacqueline F. Moore, 20, of Rockwood, was charged Friday with robbery, aggravated assault, attempted theft, making terroristic threats and endangering the welfare of a child.

Pennsylvania State Police said Moore walked into the S & S Quick Stop at about 11:30 a.m. and waited for customers to leave before donning a mask and brandishing a gun. Police said Moore told the clerk on duty to “give her all the snuff or she would shoot her brains out,” police said in a report.

The clerk refused to give up the snuff and Moore left the store. Police were called and later went to Moore’s apartment to make the arrest. Moore confessed to the crime, police said, and a gun, which turned out to be a toy gun, was recovered at the apartment.

Moore was held in Somerset County Jail on $75,000 bond pending a court appearance.
