10/17 - Garrett drug raid nets two arrests

OAKLAND — A warrant search of a Loch Lynn residence led to the arrest of two people by the Garrett County Narcotics Task Force.

Matthew A. Vecchioni and Rachel S. Vecchioni, both 26, were both charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of manufacturing equipment.

Following bond hearings, both defendants were released on their personal recognizance, pending trial in district court.

A quantity of dried marijuana plants, marijuana, digital scales and related marijuana-growing equipment were seized, police said.

The arrests were made Friday after the defendants turned themselves in to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.

    SOMERSET, Pa. — A Somerset man was killed and his 9-month-old daughter hospitalized in a single-vehicle accident Thursday in Milford Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.
    Joshua W. Berkey, 28, suffered fatal injuries in the 10:30 a.m. crash that occurred at the intersection of Route 653 and Harvest Drive.
