Driver charged DUI after head-on Route 36 crash
BARTON — An 18-year-old Frostburg man was charged with driving under the influence following a head-on collison early Wednesday on state Route 36 near Barton.
William Blondell Ludwick III was also charged with failure to keep right of center following the 1:30 a.m. crash. After being taken to the Maryland State Police barrack for arrest processing, Ludwick reportedly became ill and was taken to Memorial Hospital by LaVale Rescue Squad, according to the Allegany County Bureau of Police.
Police said Ludwick was driving northbound when his vehicle crossed the center line and into the path of a vehicle operated by Stevie Jean Donoghue, 26, of Church Street, Oakland. The impact of the crash deployed air bags and both vehicles were damaged extensively.
Both drivers and two adult passengers in the Donoghue vehicle escaped injuries, police said.
