OAKLAND — A Deer Park man was sentenced recently after being convicted of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Garrett County Office of State’s Attorney.
Brian Keith Craver, 46, pleaded guilty in the Garrett County Circuit Court to possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Related charges were dismissed upon his plea.
Judge W. Timothy Finan sentenced Craver to six months in the Garrett County Jail, with five months suspended. He will be on probation when he is released from jail and was also fined $545 in court costs.
Craver was arrested and charged by Garrett County Narcotics Officers who received a tip that Craver would be traveling to Pennsylvania to obtain marijuana. Officers conducting surveillance observed Craver’s vehicle traveling into Pennsylvania and then stopped the vehicle for an equipment violation once it returned to Garrett County.
A drug detection dog was used to scan the vehicle.
