CUMBERLAND — An alleged unsafe lane change Monday night on North Lee Street led to the arrest of a Cumberland man on drunken driving and marijuana possession charges, according to the Cumberland Police Department.
The stop was made around 8 p.m. after a city police officer was forced to take evasive action to avoid having his patrol vehicle struck by the suspect vehicle.
Officers reportedly de-tected a strong odor of alcohol before the driver was given field sobriety tests that he failed.
Leonard Yenchenko, 52, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with license privilege suspended and possession of marijuana under 10 grams. He was issued a citation for the traffic offenses and a criminal citation for the marijuana charge, police said.
