CUMBERLAND — A High Bedford Street man was arrested on assault and child abuse charges Thursday after he allegedly assaulted his daughter at their residence, Cumberland Police said.
Ronnie Ruford Helmick III, 33, was charged with second-degree assault and child abuse second degree following the 5:30 p.m., complaint.
Following a bond hearing, Helmick was released Friday after posting $25,000 bond.
Police said the victim advised that she was assaulted after she and her father argued about her household chores. She told officers she was grabbed by the neck and her head was pushed into a cabinet.
The arrest was made after police observed injuries that were consistent with the incident that she described.
