CUMBERLAND — A Grand Avenue man was arrested Thursday following an alleged assault that apparently began with an argument over a television, Cumberland Police said.
John Robert Richard, 49, was charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana before being released on $20,000 bond.
Police said Richard allegedly pushed a female victim down, punched and then strangled her before a family member intervened.
Richard was located a short time after the 11:45 a.m. incident in the 400 block of Grand Avenue and was taken into custody. He was found in possession of suspected marijuana at the time of the arrest, police said.
