ELLERSLIE — An alleged road rage incident in the Ellerslie area early Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of a Fairhope, Pa., man by Maryland State Police.
At 12:26 p.m., the Cumberland barrack posted a lookout for the suspect after a 911 call from a motorist.
The caller said that the front-seat passenger of a silver Chevrolet Tahoe with Maryland tag M760937, displayed a handgun to him while driving on state Route 35 in Pennsylvania just prior to the Maryland state line.
The Tahoe allegedly passed his vehicle in a no-passing zone.
Troopers stopped the vehicle on U.S. Route 40 in the Narrows and ordered the two occupants out of the vehicle.
The passenger was identified as James Deneen Jr., 35, of Fairhope.
A 9 mm Kel-tec handgun was reportedly discovered in Deneen’s jacket. The handgun was unloaded but a magazine loaded with seven rounds was in the jacket, police said.
Deneen was charged with possession of a handgun in a motor vehicle and wearing and carrying a handgun.
He was held on $5,000 bond set by a district court commissioner.
