CUMBERLAND — A Cumberland man was taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center following an accident Monday at the four-mile marker of Interstate 68 in Garrett County.
John Hano, 32, suffered apparent minor injuries in the 7:30 a.m. crash.
Maryland State Police said Hano lost control of his 2007 Subaru, struck a guardrail and traveled into the path of a 2009 International tractor-trailer operated by Darwin Baldwin, 55, of Texas. Baldwin was not injured.
Police said charges are pending. The Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division and State Highway Adminstration personnel also responded to the scene, along with Frostburg and Grantsville volunteer firefighters and the Northern Garrett Rescue Squad.
In Allegany County, no injuries were reported in possibly weather-related accidents Monday on westbound I-68 at the Clarysville bridge shortly before 10 a.m., and at the 65-mile marker of I-68 just before 7 a.m., according to the Allegany County 911 center.
Both accidents were said to be single-vehicle crashes in which the vehicles traveled out of control and overturned, according to the emergency center.
Various volunteer units responded to the accidents upon alert by the emergency center.
