Icy road causes drivers to wreck - 11/21

SOMERSET, Pa. — Three vehicles were in-volved in an accident Monday morning on state Route 281 in Middle Creek Township due to an icy roadway, Pennsylvania State Police said.

At 8:50 a.m., Brian Younkin, 55, of Markleton slid in his 1977 Ford F150 pickup truck and struck a utility pole. The truck landed on its side and was severely damaged, police said.

Younkin was taken to Somerset Hospital by am-bulance.

At 8:53 a.m., Dorothy Tuttle, 76, of Confluence slid in her 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt at the same location and collided with a car parked at the Rockwood school bus depot. The owner of the 2007 Ford Fusion, Jessica Fundis of Rockwood, was rendering first aid to Younkin, police said. Both cars were damaged.

No charges will be filed by police.
