3/16 - Fire damages Route 28 home

— SHORT GAP, W.Va. — A Mineral County home was damaged by fire early Monday.

Firefighters were dispatched about 12:40 a.m. for a reported fully engulfed house fire across from the Mountaineer Mart along state Route 28.

Units from Short Gap, Fort Ashby, Wiley Ford, Ridgeley and Patterson Creek re-sponded.

Initial reports from the scene indicated the occupants were out of home when Short Gap firefighters ar-rived on the scene.

Volunteers were on the scene for several hours. Further details were not available.
