Cumberland — SCHERR, W. Va. — Investigation into allegations of a sexual assault Feb. 21 on state Route 42 in Grant County has determined the complaint was “fabricated,” according to West Virginia State Police.
An interview with the alleged victim revealed “that the incident was fabricated and did not occur,” police said.
Charges are pending for filing of a false report of a crime.
The woman said she had stopped her vehicle in the Scherr Mountain area to help a motorist who then sexually assaulted her.
