OAKLAND — An elderly woman was struck by a vehicle late Saturday morning at Alder and Second streets, according to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital by Northern Garrett Rescue Squad from the 11:12 a.m. incident.
No information was provided concerning the victim’s injuries and medical condition.
Police said the victim was struck in the middle of the crosswalk by a vehicle being driven by Eric Lee Swearengen, 43, of Oakland, who was attempting to turn onto Alder Street from Second Street.
Swearengen was cited with failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk contributing to an accident, police said.
