— CUMBERLAND — A Yale Street man was arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly assaulted two female family members, Cumberland Police said.
Officers responded to the 10:53 p.m. incident and separated the parties before they observed injuries to the victim and her 9-year-old daughter.
Thomas Joseph Davis Jr., 55, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and second-degree child abuse before being jailed on $15,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
The victim told police that Davis grabbed her by the head and slammed her into a skillet hanging on a wall of the residence. He then allegedly struck the child when she came to her mother’s aid. The child called 911. The victims apparently did not require medical treatment.
