City men charged in assault case - 01/23

CUMBERLAND — Two city men were arrested Monday in connection with an alleged assault Saturday at a Columbia Street apartment, Cumberland Police said.

McClave C. Combs Jr., 49, and Shane C. Combs, were both charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. McClave Combs was also charged with making a false statement to police.

Following appearance be-fore a district court commissioner, McClave Combs was released on his personal recognizance and Shane Combs was granted pre-trial release after posting $5,000 bond.

The incident occurred in the 100 block of Columbia Street during a party in which McClave Combs allegedly grabbed a female victim and pushed her to the wall where she fell to the ground, police said.

After the first altercation, a man was allegedly assaulted in a stairwell outside the apartment by Shane Combs. The victim suffered injuries to the side of his head, police said.
