CUMBERLAND — Allegany High School was put on lock down at the end of the school day Wednesday in response to a bomb threat, the Board of Education announced.
On Monday, a threatening message was discovered written on a wall at Allegany High School, indicating a bomb threat would occur today. A joint investigation and planning continues with the Cumberland Police Department. Officers with bomb-detecting K-9 units planned to do a complete sweep of the building. They will be stationed today at the school, which will remain in a lock-in posture throughout the school day.
Parents were notified by letter that students who take backpacks or large bags to the school will be subject to searches.
