SWANTON — Fire of an unknown origin swept through a residence at 92 Ridge Road early Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
The fire at the residence of Robert and Sonia Thompson, discovered by a neighbor at 12:13 a.m., resulted in a loss estimated at $125,000 to the single-family dwelling and $25,000 to its contents, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Twenty volunteer firefighters from Deer Park, Bittinger, Oakland and Deep Creek companies responded along with the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad following alert by the Garrett County 911 center.
Deputy Fire Marshal Jamie Rodeheaver is continuing to investigate the cause and origin of the blaze.
The Thompson residence was reportedly engulfed in flames when volunteer firefighters arrived at the scene.
