CUMBERLAND — A city man was charged with drunken driving and other violations after he failed to stop for a red light and struck a vehicle on state Route 53 at Braddock Square, according to Maryland State Police.
John Munday, 57, was charged with fleeing the scene of a personal injury accident, driving under the influence and related traffic offenses. He was also issued a citation for possession of marijuana following the 9:08 p.m. crash.
Munday and 19-year-old Sutton Apsey of Cresaptown were injured and taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Police said Munday was driving a GMC Sierra when he failed to stop at a red light and struck a Ford Contour being driven by Apsey.
Police said Munday was located by troopers a short distance away on Route 53.
LaVale volunteer fire and rescue units and an ambulance from Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department also responded, according to the Allegany County 911 center.
