She said that while speaking with her neighbor, she saw some of her stolen property in the neighbor’s residence. She also provided police the name of another suspect who may have been involved in the crime.

The second suspect, Grant Henry Van Pelt, 41, was arrested at the 200 block of Columbia Street after being questioned by officers who discovered a small bag with suspected marijuana and a smoking device with suspected marijuana. Van Pelt was charged with fourth-degree burglary, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and CDS paraphernalia. Van Pelt was taken for an initial court appearance and held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $3,500 bond.

The neighbor, Khristiana Anna Bettis, 33, was issued a criminal citation for theft and released pending trial.

Police were able to recover some of the stolen items, which were re-turned to the victim.
