CUMBERLAND — Regular-season champion Tri-State and defending playoff champ Cumberland wrapped up their best-of-three semifinal series on Sunday, setting up an all-Cumberland final series in the Pen-Mar/WV Baseball League.
Tri-State (21-5) and Cumberland (19-8) will meet in the league championship series for the third straight season. Cumberland has won the last two, and beat Tri-State last year, 2 games to 1.
This year’s final series will be best-of-five. The first two games will be Saturday at Allegany College, followed by two more on Sunday at Holler Field. A fifth game, if necessary, is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9.
Tri-State advanced to the finals by sweeping Clarksburg in the semifinals, winning 7-4 at Clarksburg on Saturday and getting a 7-0 forfeit on Sunday.
Cumberland edged Oakland in three games. Cumberland won 6-2 on Saturday, Oakland took game two 3-1 on Sunday, and the Orioles won game three, 10-7.
