Cumberland defeats Oakland

From Staff Reports

POTOMAC PARK — Sean Fazenbaker’s two-run double snapped a 7-7 tie in the sixth inning and lifted Cumberland past Oakland in the third game of their best-of-three semifinal series at Holler Field.

Oakland had tied it in the top of the inning, scoring runs on an error and a single by Bill Reams, before Cumberland answered in the bottom of the inning.

Tony Fetters led the Orioles with a double, single, two RBIs and two runs scored. Mike Hutchinson added a single and two RBIs. Sean Collette hit an RBI single and Chad Chambers an RBI double in a five-run fifth for the O’s, who trailed 5-2 after four innings.

Reams, Jamie Clark and Eric Johnson doubled and singled and Cory Bosley singled twice for Oakland (18-9). Clark scored two runs and drove in two.

The Oaks forced the third game with a 3-1 win in the opener.

Torry Poholsky fired a nifty three-hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts. The only run he allowed was unearned.

Oakland scored all of its runs in the second inning, getting a two-run double by Bosley and an RBI groundout by Jake Freels.

Fetters pitched well but got the loss, allowing five hits, walking three and fanning seven.
