Cumberland tops Mt. Storm in five innings, 4-2

PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Chad Chambers had two hits, drove in two runs and scored another to lead the Cumberland Orioles to a rain-shortened 4-2 win over the Mt. Storm Powerhouse in the first game of their Pen-Mar/WV League doubleheader Sunday afteroon at Petersburg High School.

The first inning was called after five complete innings and the second game was postponed by rain.

The Orioles jumped on top early with a three-run first inning and, after Mt. Storm got to within 3-2, added a run in the fifth before the rains came.

Chambers finished 2-for-3 with a double and single for the Orioles. Brent Lockhart went 3-for-3 with three singles for Mt Storm.

Josh Kuykendall earned the win, pitching all five innings, scattering seven hits and striking out four.

Cumberland (8-6 overall, 5-3 Pen-Mar/WV) hosts Mt. Storm on Saturday and will play three six-inning games on Sunday at Clarksburg. Mt. Storm visits Cumberland on Saturday and Oakland on Sunday.
