BEL AIR - Boonsboro won a fast-paced pitchers duel in the opener and won an 11-inning marathon in the nitecap in sweeping Cumberland in a non-league twinbill at Bel Air Saturday.
In the first game, Buddy Shirlot got the win over Chad Chambers in a battle of four-hitters. Shirlot walked four and fanned nine, while Chambers had two walks and six strikeouts.
Kane doubled and scored the only run on a Noll single in the second inning.
Josh Dolly had two singles for Cumberland.
In the 11-inning second game, Boonsboro trailed 6-1 before erupting for five runs in the seventh to tie it.
Simons and Himes doubled and singled for Boonsboro. Himes had three RBIs and Simons scored twice.
Mike Hutchinson went 3-for-5 with a double and two singles for Cumberland. Brandon Benson doubled, singled and scored twice and Josh Albert singled and scored twice.
Trout got the win for Boonsboro, allowing only one run and striking out six in seven relief innings.
