Tri-State sweeps Boonsboro, 5-2 and 2-0

BOONSBORO - Brian Powell scattered six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks in the first game and Justin Jenkins belted a two-run home run to provide all the scoring in the second game to help the Tri-State Titans sweep Boonsboro of the Blue Ridge League.

The Titans begin PenMar-WV League play Sunday at Allegany College of Maryland in a doubleheader against Clarksburg.

In Saturday's first game, the Titans scored single runs in the second, third and seventh innings and scored twice in the fourth.

Josh Logsdon was the Titans' leading hitter with a double, single and RBI. Tristan Beyer had an RBI double, and Matt Wright had a base hit and scored twice. Jimmy Barrett and Bill Davis had RBI singles.

In the second game, Jenkins' two-run, first-inning homer was all the Titans needed as Davis and Barrett combined to shut out Boonsboro. Jenkins, Powell and Tony Burns had the other three hits, all singles.

The Titans (2-0) will play eight games against Blue Ridge teams this season along with their 12-game PenMar-WV League schedule.
