Orioles drop pair

FROSTBURG — The Berkshire Red Sox scored five runs in the first inning of the opener, and had two three-run inning late in the second to complete a sweep of the Cumberland Orioles Sunday at Frostburg State University.

The Red Sox outhit the O’s 9-5 to collect a 7-3 win in the first game. They rallied for six runs in the final three innings to get a 8-3 decision in game two.

Demetrius Smith hit a triple, while Jake Stein and Jim Schurr had two singles for Berkshire in the first game.

The Orioles got a triple from Joe Durham. Nate Koepsel, Chad Chambers and Brandon Benson all doubled.

In the second game, Cumberland led 3-1 lead after the first inning, but Berkshire scored three in the fifth and three more in the seventh to take control.

The Orioles got another double from Benson, and two singles from Mike Hutchinson.
