Cumberland Outdoor Club team

The Cumberland Outdoor Club team in the Maryland Youth Hunter Education Challenge participated in the 2012 event in Williamsport. From left, seated, are Braedon Cornwell, Austin Crowe, Jesse Harman, Parker Preaskorn, Logan Twigg, Grant Wolfe, Hunter Preaskorn, Luke Vinci and Montana Lease. Standing are Dalton Funk, Jared McKenzie, Zach Barber, Levi Hartsock, Colon Mackereth and coaches Jeff Barber and Brian Appel. Pictured separately is Levi Hartsock who placed second overall in the senior division. Hartsock was first in muzzleloader and hunter responsibility, second in rifle, wildlife identification and orienteering. Zach Barber placed third in rifle. In the junior division, Grant Wolfe was first in shotgun, second in rifle and fourth in wildlife identification. Logan Twigg was first in rifle and Parker Preaskorn was fourth in orienteering.

    Mike Strandlund, the longtime editor of Minnetonka-based Bowhunting World magazine and a member of the Bowhunters Hall of Fame, died recently while vacationing in the Philippines. He was 56.
