Bear Watch - 09/30/2012

Thirty-two bears have been killed on Maryland roadways this year, according to an unofficial tally kept by the Cumberland Times-News. About this same time a year ago, 36 bears had perished.



On Sept. 22, a male bear weighing 115 pounds was struck and killed on Interstate 68 near Mountain Road in eastern Allegany County.



On Sept. 23, a radio-collared sow died on U.S. Route 219 near the Maryland State Police barrack at McHenry.
