A little while ago I wrote a letter trying to encourage voters to vote against both Obama and Romney (“This time, vote for someone not in one of those two parties,” May 16 Times-News).
I just thought since the election is about a month away I would recap on this issue.
If you think either one of these candidates will represent the interests of the common people, then think again. They’re nothing but corporate puppets who are battling to see who can raise the most money, and then helping their Wall Street buddies instead of the working and middle classes.
The Democratic and Republican parties have done nothing but bicker and whine, while nothing gets accomplished.
If you are tired of this nonsense, then consider voting for a third party candidate. You can’t be cynical and say, “Well, I’d vote for a third party candidate if they had a chance of winning.” That is exactly what the Democrats and Republicans want. They want you to think that they’re the only ones who can win, just so they can stay in power and continue to do absolutely nothing!
If you have progressive/left-leaning views, then consider voting for Jill Stein (Green Party). If you want the government to stay out of the economy and your personal life, then consider Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party); or if you’re both fiscally and socially conservative, then consider Virgil Goode (Constitution Party).
In my opinion, voting for a third party is one of the only options to counter the two-party system and its destruction. Don’t let the two parties suck you up into their vacuum of absurdity. I am asking you to please join me on Nov. 6 and vote for a third party candidate,
