On Feb. 14 while crossing Industrial Boulevard West at Grand Avenue, we were nearly run over by a speeding car.
As we attempted to reach our truck parked on the boulevard, we realized that the driver was speeding and would hit us if we did not get out of his lane of traffic. We knew that we could not reach our vehicle in time and we stepped back into the other lane of traffic. We lost our footing and fell backwards on to the black top, with oncoming cars approaching us.
The speeding car slammed on his brakes and swerved to avoid hitting us as we lay in the boulevard. By the grace of God, we were not seriously injured. The driver never stopped to see if we needed aid.
The other drivers on the boulevard that observed the incident stopped and blocked the lanes of traffic so that we would not be injured by oncoming traffic. They offered and assisted us and helped us to our feet.
We both suffered minor bruising and scrapes. In the state of our disbelief of what just happened, we failed to get the names of those that helped us in our time of need.
We wish to greatly thank those that rendered aid to us. You are truly Good Samaritans. We and many others feel that crosswalks should be placed at the intersections of Industrial Boulevard West from South Street through Virginia Avenue to prevent a true tragedy from happening.
Speeding vehicles trying to make the green light at Virginia Avenue have turned this residential area into a speedway. It is nearly impossible to cross these intersections without jeopardizing one’s life. In fact our daughter’s car has been hit twice while legally parked on Industrial Boulevard West by hit and run drivers.
We ask that the elected officials look into this problem and provide a solution.

Housing project will have bad effect on property in this area
