In response to recent newspaper ads and letters to the editor claiming to portray the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)’s views on human sexuality, the congregation of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 400 Arch St., Cumberland, will be offering an opportunity to study the ELCA’s social statement titled “Human Sexuality, Gift and Trust.”
There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation about what the ELCA has to say about these things, so we want to invite all who are interested to learn more about this. Our study and discussion will start on Sunday, Jan. 6, at 9 a.m. (followed by 10 a.m. worship, if you so choose) and continue Sunday mornings for four to five weeks.
