Again I feel compelled to vent, instead of worrying about pouring $2 million dollars into a old building that isn’t good for anything.
Isn’t it about time that the city, county and state officials in this area address the job situation?
Here's a good suggestion: Tear the Footer Dye Works building down and build restaurant franchises in that area so that our young people can get a job.
But wait, we don’t want that. We would sooner give them a WIC voucher, an Independence Card and public housing or a HUD house and heating assistance or, if all else fails, we have that Social Security disability to fall back on.
I’d like to know what happened to our town. How did we let all the industries just walk away? Celanese, Kelly-Springfield, the bakery and other employers.
Now we cry about the slot machines and the conference center area in Rocky Gap. What about the Barton Industrial Park? We spent all the tax dollars on water lines and improvements, and for what? We have one factory and a lot of empty space.
