CUMBERLAND — Richard “Rick” William Schubert, 63, formerly of Cumberland and residing in Woodbine, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Gilchrist Hospice.
Born Feb. 7, 1949, in Cumberland, Mr. Schubert was the son of the late Robert Lee Schubert Sr. and Dorothy Mae Schubert. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Schubert Jr., and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Rick was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1967, and retired from the Environmental Elements Corporation with 25 years of service in design engineering. He was a loving husband and friend to both young and old. He had a wide variety of interests with exceptional talents and creativity. His presence will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
Rick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sheila Schubert; as well as numerous brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews he considered as his own family.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Lay Speaker and family relative, Joyce Smith, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Gilchrist Hospice Care, 6336 Cedar Lane, Columbia, MD 21044.
