CUMBERLAND — Samuel Elijah Wilt, 88, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at his home.
Born June 21, 1924, Swanton, Mr. Wilt was the son of the late Henry Tilden Wilt and Sophia J. (Summerville) Wilt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lola Marie Wilt, Oct. 28, 2003; and a grandson, Robert Amato.
A member of the New Beginning Church of God, Sam retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company.
He is survived by his stepdaughters, Miriam Agnes Amato, Ariz. and Carolyn Marston Snyder, Rock Hill, S.C.; Sam is also survived by his brothers, Edward Wilt, Fredericksburg, Va., James Wilt, Streetsboro, Ohio, John Wilt, Bedford, Ohio and Tilden Wilt, Oakland; four sisters, May Bash, Cleveland, Ohio, Magdeline Hayes, Oakland, Wanda Hinebaugh, Deer Park, and Audrey Bowser, Deer Park; his step-grandchildren, James B. Amato, Thomas E. Amato, Steven S. Amato, Suzanne M. Griffin; and his great-step-grandchildren, Daniel Amato, and Janie Marie Sullivan.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Gene Riffey officiating.
Interment will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the South Cumberland Assembly of God, 21 East Elder St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
