BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. — Robert Carroll Cuppett, 94, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., passed away to rejoin his life partner of 58 years on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at the home of his son in Accident, where he had resided the last few years.
Born on June 15, 1917, in Bruceton Mills, he was the son of the late Gilbert Clinton Cuppett and Josie Hyde (Kimberly) Cuppett. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice Marie (Liston) Cuppett, on Jan. 18, 2005; his brothers, Darlton Alonzo and Harrell Iden; and his sisters, Dorthea Margarite and Velma Elizabeth.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Ella Cuppett Speaks and her husband, Robert A., of Glengary, W.Va.; his son, Dane Allen Cuppett and his wife Yvonne LaRose (Moreland), of Accident; grandchildren, Rachel Catherine Aure, Josie Lucinda Marie Speaks, Dean Allen Moyers and his fiancee Nora Swanson, Jeremy Colt Moyers, Aaron James Cuppett and Emily Rose Cuppett; great-grandchildren, John Martin Aure Jr., Sebastian Blake Aure, Rory May Moyers, Morgan Ann Armstrong, and Colten Dane Moyers; and many nieces and nephews.
During World War II, he served with the 84th Infantry Division of the US Army during the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Cuppett was retired after spending years as a truck driver and dozer operator for Kingwood Mining Co. and as a finisher at Sheidow Bronze in Kingwood, W.Va. Upon retirement, he spent many hours working in the yard and garden. He and Bernice also traveled and spent time with friends they had known during the early years of their marriage and visiting with their children and grandchildren. They also spent many hours together working on refinishing furniture for their home and their children.  During the winter months, visitors to their home often found Bob and Bernice putting together picture puzzles.
He will be greatly missed not only by his immediate family, but also by those who had known him throughout the years for his quick wit and smile. We are sure that he is happily reunited with his wife whom he always affectionately called “Perce.”
Friends and family were received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, W.Va., Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Vicki D. Sheppard officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
