FRANCIS A. LYONS [Frostburg]



FROSTBURG — Francis Allen Lyons, 72, of Frostburg, died on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born Jan. 19, 1941, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Charles W. Lyons and Lelia Shaw Warnick. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Wilson and wife Jeanie.

Francis is retired from Bethlehem Steel Co. in Baltimore after 30 years of service in 1989, and was the proprietor of used and new furniture in Vale Summit for 20 years. He loved to camp, fish and work in his woodshop.

Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Maxine E. (Whetstone) Lyons; four daughters, Melinda Robinson and husband Roger, of Joppa, Cindy Lyons, of Corriganville, Diane Lyons, of Ohio and Joanne Bevan and husband Joe, of Frostburg; five grandsons, Richard Marsh, Vincent Mendez, Justin Mendez, Skyler Lyons and Ethan Bevan; one very special granddaughter, Kylee Bevan; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Lyons and wife Joyce, of Westernport and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral home following the viewing with Brother John Richmond as celebrant.

Francis will be cremated in accordance with his wishes following the service.

In honor of Francis’s love for animals and especially for his beloved Pomeranian, Zoey, memorial donations can be made in his memory to Allegany Co. Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace St., Cumberland, MD 21502.

PEARL J. SHANHOLTZ

CUMBERLAND  — Pearl Jeanette Shanholtz, 80, of Cumberland, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.

Born Jan. 16, 1933, in Cumberland, Mrs. Shanholtz was the daughter of the late Ellis Fletcher and Odella (Barnes) Fletcher. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Dayton V. May Sr.; her second husband, James Shanholtz; a son, Gary Ellis May; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hoopengardner; a sister, Oleda Fletcher; a brother, Ellis Fletcher and a special friend, William Bauman.

A homemaker, Pearl is survived by her children, Gloria Johnson and husband Randy, of Chaneysville, Pa., Darlene May and friend Kevin Bittner and Shirley Lanehart, all of Cumberland, Dayton V. May Jr. and wife Eileen, of Frostburg and Joyce Crabtree and husband Ronald, of Kittanning, Pa. and special friends, Loyd Williams and Christmas Carol Kirchner. She is also survived by brother, Melvin Fletcher, of Baltimore; her grandchildren, Carmen Kopas, Danny Riley, April Williams, Angie Williams, Ronnie William Jr., Randy Williams, Danny May, Allen Hoopengardner, Andy Seifert May, Shawn May, Roland Lanehart Jr., Shantelle Crabtree, Jennifer Sanner and Jonelle May; as well as 16 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Mudge officiating.

Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.
