WESTPORT, Conn. — Brenda Powell Gurganus was called home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Westport Health Care Center in Westport, Conn.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, June Elaine Jones, of West Haven, Conn. and Deborah (Alfredo) Gonzalez, of Cumberland; two sons, Johnson Brian Gurganus, of Washington, D.C. and Vincent Gurganus, of Bridgeport, Conn; one sister, Audrey Powell, of Bridgeport, Conn; three brothers, Ret. Col. Donald (Rosie) Powell, of Silver Springs, Va., Ronald Powell, of Baltimore and John (Sharon) Powell, of Cumberland; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Blanche Hamilton, of Washington, D.C. and brother-in-law, Charles (Hunn) Gurganus, of Omaha, Neb.
She is predeceased by her husband, Johnson “Sonny” and daughter, Dawn Renee.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at noon at Baker Isaac Funeral Home, 985 Stratford Ave., Bridgeport, Conn. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. until time of service.
