JACK E. HOLLIDAY [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Jack Emory Holliday, 82, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at his home.

Born Nov. 5, 1930, in Baltimore, Mr. Holliday was the son of the late Othal John Holliday and Edith Pauline (Bierman) Holliday.

Jack was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1949. He was a United States Army Veteran during the Korean War and retired from Pittsburgh Plate and Glass with 30 years of service. Jack was a member of the Davis Memorial United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Queen City Lodge 131 A.F.&A.M.; the Scottish Rite; and the Cub Scouts of America serving as Cub Master of Pack 2. Jack was a former member and served on the board for the Allegany County Transit Authority; the Allegany County Zoning Appeals Board; the Allegany County Sanitation Commission; and the Community Relations Board for the Federal Prison.

Jack was a proud father of Dudley and Tracy and grandfather who never missed any of their extracurricular activities.

Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lyla Murphy Holliday; his son, Dudley Holliday and wife, Doris; and his daughter, Tracy Snider and husband, James, all of Cumberland. He is also leaves behind his grandchildren, Travis Holliday and wife, Mandy, Lindsay Holliday, Jamie Snider, and Zack Snider; his great-grandchildren, Landon and Addison Holliday; and his sister, Peggy Durst and husband, Claude “Dusty,” Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Masonic Lodge will conduct a service beginning at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Robert Wellman officiating.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

The family request that memorial contributions be made in Jack’s name to the Davis Memorial United Methodist Church, 14300 Uhl Hwy., SE, Cumberland, MD 21502-8442; or, to the District 16 Volunteer Fire Department, 12100 North Branch Rd., Cumberland, MD 21502.
