DUNDALK — Earl Kenneth “Kenny” Herrell, 81, of Dundalk, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at his home.
Born Nov. 9, 1931, in Cumberland, Mr. Herrell was the son of the late Earl Robert Herrell and Sylvia Lee (Jenkins) Herrell. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Herrell; three sisters, Audrey McDonald, Helen Van Horn, and Opal Brown; and a grandson, Dustin Herrell.
A United States Army Veteran of the Korean Era, Kenny was awarded the Bronze Star; the Korean Service Medal; the United Nations Service Medal; the National Defense Service Medal; and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Kenny was a professional auto body repair man and was also employed at Lockheed Martin. A talented man, Kenny was good at repairing anything.
Kenny played the guitar and was a devoted member of the Dundalk Assembly of God prior to his stroke. He loved to listen to gospel music and was an avid Ravens Fan. Kenny enjoyed spending time with his family, walking, and being outdoors.
Kenny was a loving, devoted father and a wonderful grandfather. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Miller and husband, Robert, Altoona, Pa., and Trisha Bielecki Burton, Bel Air; and his sons, Michael Herrell, Houston, Tex., Shane Herrell and wife, April, and Lewis Herrell, all of Petersburg, W.Va. Kenny is also survived by his brothers, Robert Herrell, and Allen Dale Herrell, both of Cumberland; his sisters, Eloise Wilson, Las Vegas, Nev., June Rey of Fla., Marguerite Miner, Rawlings, Thelma Bordeaux, Claudine Robertson, and Joyce Thorp, all of Cumberland.
Pappy also leaves behind his grandchildren, Matthew Miller and wife, Christina, Bobby Miller, Kenly Herrell, Austin Herrell, Andrew Bielecki, William Burton, Jr., and Alexander James Burton.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Joe DiNicola officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
