LONACONING — Mary Timney Kepner, 94, of West Main St., Lonaconing and formerly of Williamsport, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at her residence with her caretaker, Ellie, holding her hand and singing her favorite song "Just as I Am". Born on Dec. 17, 1917 in Moscow, Md., she was the daughter of the late Alexander Timney and Clara (Warnick) Timney.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alex "Sonny", Charles, William and George and her sister Catherine (Timney) Beeman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Kepner, Sr. and step-son William Kepner, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Michael Bowling; daughter-in-law, Judi Bowling and her daughter, Ayla Stevens. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Ruth Marcheck and husband Ed and their family; many nieces and nephews including Gayle Fazenbaker and friend Dave and her great-great nephew Jonathan.
Mary was always an independent person and as a young women worked as a taxi driver in Lonaconing. She also worked as a waitress for many years at the Holiday Inn in Williamsport, Pa. In 1999 she moved back to Lonaconing to be with her family. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Lonaconing. Mary enjoyed gardening, swimming and traveling with her sister and niece Phyllis Nicol. She kept up with current events and politics and enjoyed asking questions and discussing issues with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews
Mary's family appreciates the expert care, kindness and compassion given provided by her caretakers. Their loving hearts allowed her to live in the comfort of her home and spend her final days on her own terms. Each and every caretaker went above and beyond what was expected of them, especially Margie who cared for Mary from the beginning.
The family also thanks WMHS Hospice and the Georges Creek Ambulance Service.
According to her wishes she was cremated and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Lonaconing with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating. Arrangements were handled by Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing (www.eichhornmckenzie.com).
