CUMBERLAND — Betty Marie Norris, 79, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at her home.
Born July 9, 1933, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert M. Castleman and Edith (Myers) Castleman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William R. Norris, in 1993; one son, Jeffrey Norris, in 1980; one sister, Faye Harbaugh and three brothers, Roy, Bruce, and Fred Castleman.
She was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1951.
Mrs. Norris was retired from Pittsburgh Plate & Glass, where she had been a secretary. She had also worked for Cumberland Steel.
Mrs. Norris belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she had volunteered in many areas. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army and for Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her son, Steven Norris, of Lernersville, N.C.; one brother, James Castleman, of Cumberland; two sisters, Mae Adcock, of Cumberland and Dorothy Smith, of Akron, Ohio and two grandchildren, Shawn Norris and Ashley Norris, both of Lernersville, N.C.
A memorial service will be conducted in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 406 Arch St., Cumberland, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tormod Svensson officiating.
