CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. — Franklin McKee McKenzie, 83, of Crystal River, Fla., formerly of Frostburg, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at the Lions Center for Nursing and Extended Care.
Born March 27, 1929, in Frostburg, Mr. McKenzie was the son of the late William McKee McKenzie and Bessie Agnes (Munsie) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean McKenzie.
Frank retired from the J&L Steel Mill in Pittsburgh, Pa. and then moved to Florida in 1986. He was a member of the Walter R. Bogart Lodge 882 FAM of Alabama and the Hands on Wood Turners Club of Florida. Frank loved to take long walks around the neighborhood. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, fishing, hunting and caring for his cat, “Babe.”
Frank is survived by his daughter Belinda Ann Keller and husband Charles, of Lakewood, W.Va.; his stepson, Larry G. Brobeck, of New Brighton, Pa. and his stepdaughter Karen B. Koda, of Largo, Fla. He is also survived by his brothers, John W. McKenzie, of Beaver, Pa. and O. Harvey McKenzie and wife Adelia, of Frostburg; his sisters Anna Kathleen Burkholder, of Youngstown, Ohio and Marian E. Brown, of Shaft, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Shaft United Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harry Burchell officiating. The Masons from Mountain Lodge 99 will conduct a ceremony at the church.
Interment was in Frostburg Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank all of his wonderful neighbors, caregivers and friends Frank had while living in Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shaft United Methodist Church, c/o Selina Smith, 19209 Shaft Road, SW, Frostburg, MD 21532.
