MCHENRY — Carl Edward Savage, 84, of McHenry, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at his home.
Born Aug. 29, 1928, in McHenry, he was the son of the late Everett and Mary (Rodeheaver) Savage. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Marie (Rodeheaver) Savage, in 1988.
Mr. Savage served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren; Oakland Lodge 192, A.F. & A.M. and Proctor-Kildow Post 71, American Legion, Oakland. He was employed as a truck driver for several years before joining the Garrett County Roads Dept. in 1971, retiring in 1991.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Edward Savage and wife Dianna, of Sarasota, Fla. and Darrell Alan Savage and wife Regina, of McHenry; one granddaughter, Nicole Marie Savage; two sisters, Lola Wilburn and Anna Mary Fratz, both of McHenry; two brothers-in-law, Paul Rodeheaver, of Oakland and Richard Rodeheaver, of Winchester, Va.; four sisters-in-law, Laura Schoch and Thelma Kitzmiller, both of Oakland, Barbara Baker, of Bethel, Ohio and Naomi Harvey, of McConnellsburg, Pa.; several nieces and nephews and one special friend, Verna Moon, of LaVale.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Highway, Accident, (McHenry) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.2
Services will be conducted on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Philip Matthews officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by area veteran’s service organizations. Oakland Lodge 192, A.F. & A.M., will hold a Masonic memorial service on Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
