FLINTSTONE — Grant Leo Hymes, 92, of Flintstone, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 3, 1920, in Artemas, Pa., Mr. Hymes was the son of the late George William Hymes and Ora Olive (Bennett) Hymes.
Grant was a United States Army/Air Corps veteran of World War II, where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters. He retired from the Chessie System Railroad. Grant was a member of Green Ridge Assembly of God Church where he was a Deacon.
Grant is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marion Hymes; his son, William G. Hymes and wife Kelly, of Youngstown, Ohio; his daughter, Sharon J. Hymes, of Flintstone and his sister, Virginia Dolly, of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Walczykowski officiating. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Fairview Christian Cemetery.
