CUMBERLAND — Irene Elizabeth LaParle, 93, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at her home.
Born Jan. 14, 1920, in Rutalminster, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Gustav “Gus” and Irene (Binter) Schnotz. Besides her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Frank LaParle III, in May 20, 1994, and a grandson, Frank R. LaParle V. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Irene was a skilled artist. She specialized in shadow box art and designing egg sculptures. She especially enjoyed making copies of the Faberge eggs. Irene was also an expert seamstress who made her own clothing.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Frank LaParle IV and wife Lea, of Cumberland; a granddaughter, Amy LaParle Sherman and husband Brian, of Middletown, Del. and four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn M. LaParle, Emily F. LaParle, Olivia T. Sherman and Elena M. Sherman.
At Irene’s request she will be cremated.
She further requested that no visitation or funeral service take place.
